Environment Agency Wales is continuing to issue Flood Warnings for coastal areas as high tides and strong winds are forecast late this evening (Wednesday 17/10/2012).
The Agency expects to issue as at least 10 Flood Warnings in coastal areas this evening as well as numerous Flood Alerts.
The Flood Warnings will be mainly in southwest and southeast Wales, and including possible into Cardigan Bay, as sea spray and overtopping caused by the high waves could cause flooding.
The current forecast indicates low lying coastal roads, farmland, and isolated properties are vulnerable.
The Agency is urging people to be careful if they are driving or walking in coastal locations this evening.
People should avoid exposed areas where there is a risk of being swept away by waves or hit by debris thrown up by waves.
Overnight, Agency officers have installed stop logs and flood gates in Loughor, Newton Foreshore and Crofty.
They will also be checking Agency flood defences along the coast and help emergency services respond to incidents.
High tides are expected at Milford Haven initially at 8.20pm and then along the coast to Newport in the southeast at 9.15pm and Barmouth in north Wales at 10.20pm.
