Young people are being invited to come along to the first ever headphone party at the Amman and Gwendraeth Blue Light Disco.

On Thursday, October 25, at the Gwernllwyn Night Club, Crosshands, young people between the ages of 11-17 can participate in a silent-themed disco where they can dance to music listened to on wireless headphones, rather than a speaker system.

Rhys Jones, Senior Youth Worker for the Amman and Gwendraeth areas, said: “This will be the first time for us to put on a silent disco and I’m sure it will be a big hit among the young people. When they take off their headphones and see their friends singing and dancing to nothing, I’m sure they’ll have plenty of laughs. As well as providing something new and exciting for young people, we are also helping to keep sound levels down for local residents.”

The Blue Light Discos are staffed by the Amman and Gwendraeth Youth team, police officers and volunteers, which gives young people the opportunity to gather in a safe, alcohol-free environment.

The event runs from 7-10pm, and the entry fee of £5 includes free soft drinks all night.
