Action for Children’s Carmarthenshire Family and Community Team (FACT) is inviting local families to the sixth annual fun day, which will be held again this year at the National Botanic Garden of Wales on Wednesday 31 October in celebration of National Parents’ Week 2012.

The Carmarthenshire Family Fun Day gives children and their families the chance to visit the garden and take part in fun, family-focussed activities including craft and music workshops, circus skills, cooking demos, pumpkin carving, live entertainment and more. Parents can also access information and support on services such as money management advice, road safety and keeping energy costs down.

The event has been organised collaboratively between the charity, Carmarthenshire County Council and Carmarthenshire Children’s Partnership with generous support from headline sponsor Barclays Money Skills. It is focused on celebrating the achievements of families over the year and promoting the services available to families and children across the county.

Paul Andrews, parenting project worker at Carmarthenshire FACT and co-organiser of the event, said: “Last year’s event was attended by over 2,000 people and was a roaring success! It’s a great day filled with lots of activities for all ages in a beautiful location. I encourage local families to get involved and head on down.

“Carmarthenshire FACT supports children, young people and families from the earliest possible stages offering advice on many aspects of family life including parenting, children’s rights, healthy eating, family communication and child development. The project also aims to improve the financial capability of young parents through the Barclays Money Skills programme, providing them with the tools needed to gain a better understanding of managing personal finances,” continued Paul.

Admission to the Carmarthenshire Family Fun Day is ÂŁ5 for adults and FREE for children aged 18 or under. All other activities are free to participate in. Transport is available between local family centres and the venue. For more information contact Paul Andrews on 01554 745 155.
