Mentro will be hosting a free event to showcase the business stars of the future at the Old School in Bethlehem in December.

‘Bethlehem After Dark’ will include exhibitions, entertainment and a Christmas market with work and products from rural Carmarthenshire’s young entrepreneurs.

Inside the Old School will be a mixed media Art exhibition from 1st class honours graduate Ria Bennett and Carmen Way, a 16 year old artist from Whitland, will be exhibiting her prize-winning “Jubilee” collection. Film photographer Jonathan McLaughlin of Oaktale Pictures will also be screening his latest projects.

In the outdoor performance marquee Next Best Thing winner Iona Thomas will be playing her electric harp and guitar and local trio Sticky Vinyl will be performing their hit “For What We Used to Say.”

Fashion shows from Que Sarra and Lucy Brooke-Saunders Millinery will be accompanied by music specially created for the event by local music producer Christian Aaron Perry and Corryn Du Director Jason Lye-Phillips.

The second marquee will play host to the Christmas Market with gift ideas from companies including Sarah’s Baked Well Cakes, Lillies Jewellery, Y Coffor Bach and many more.

All of the businesses involved in the event have worked closely with Tomas Marks, the Mentro Development officer. Mentro provides free business support to young people aged between 16 and 30, through RDP Sir Gâr’s Rural Entrepreneurship scheme. The project is funded through the Rural Development Plan (RDP) for Wales 2007 – 2013 by the Welsh Government and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.

They give free advice and guidance on starting your own business and raise awareness of start-up loans and financial support available. They can also help with the creation of business plans and budgets.

Tomas says: “It promises to be a fantastic evening with something for everyone and it’s a great opportunity to support these enterprising young businesspeople from the local area.”

Entry is free and Bethlehem Community Association will be running a bar with refreshments and hot food.

Bethlehem After Dark: Sat 1st Dec 2012, 7pm – 11pm, Old School, Bethlehem
