The Scarlets chief executive had his business skills put to the test by students at Coleg Sir Gâr’s Graig campus.

Former Honda manager Mark Davies, who was responsible for running the company’s motorsport business in 38 European countries, returned to Wales after a 30 year absence to lead a revival plan for the Llanelli-based regional side. He was asked to deliver a talk to sports and travel and tourism students who have had new business and enterprise modules built into their course.

“This was a very comprehensive and well-prepared talk with significant facts and figures,” said tutor Gareth Harvey. “With 49 clubs in its region, Mark explained how the academy structure impacts on the development of the business, the strength of the club’s economic impact and gave us an insight into financial planning and how the club is retaining its financial stability.”
