Sports clubs and organisations are being encouraged to come along to a free sports journalism course in December being hosted by Papur y Cwm.

The aim is to train people to be able to contribute sport articles to Papur y Cwm, the Welsh language newspaper for the Gwendraeth Valley.

The course has been funded by Dathlu Diwylliant which offers grants of up to £5000 towards the cost of putting on community events with no match funding required.

Dathlu Diwylliant is part of RDP Sir Gar’s Innovative Hubs project and is funded by the Rural Development Plan for Wales 2007-2013 which is funded by the Welsh Government and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.

Helen Mainwaring the chair of Papur y Cwm says:

“The aim of the workshops is to increase the confidence of local people to contribute to the paper in order to ensure a positive future for the publication which plays a fundamental part in the heritage of the Gwendraeth Valley. The support provided by Dathlu Diwylliant has been essential to develop the project.”

Sports Journalism Course: Tues 11th and Thurs 13th December,6pm at Cefneithin Rugby Club.
