A MAN has been fined £75 for failing to clean up after his dog in Kidwelly.

He was caught by council environmental enforcement officers on the green area on the corner of Priory Street.

Officers targeted the area at a certain time of day after receiving information that it was a regular occurrence.

Failure to pay could result in prosecution in the magistrates court where the maximum fine is £1,000.

Executive Board Member for Environmental and Public Protection Cllr Jim Jones said: “We are urging the public to please report any dog fouling in their area so that our officers can catch those responsible.

“Our enforcement officers have to cover the whole county and they cannot be everywhere at once, which is why the help of the public is vital.

“If the message gets out that the residents can take direct action to report offences, dog owners are far more likely to behave responsibly.”
