RESIDENTS are being urged to stay safe while they are out enjoying this festive season by remembering three simple letters – ICE.
The Carmarthenshire Community Safety Partnership has teamed up with the Welsh Ambulance Service to promote the national In Case of Emergency (ICE) campaign.
The campaign encourages people to store their emergency contacts on them at all times under the acronym ICE. If you have more than one person as an emergency contact, then save their numbers as ICE, ICE2 and so on; and if they are deaf, as ICETEXT.
For those who don’t have mobile phones, or whose phones maybe password protected, ICE cards are available so that people can put them in their wallets or purses.
Executive Board Member for Community Safety Cllr Pam Palmer said: “I would urge people, particularly those who are vulnerable to health problems, to please store their emergency contacts in this way.
“It means that should you fall ill or become injured, especially at this time of the year when we are all out enjoying ourselves, families can be easily contacted, saving a great deal of distress; and it can also help the ambulance service, by getting the right treatment to the patient safely and quickly.”
