A LOCAL development company has opened two new industrial units at Llanelli’s business hub with support from the South West Wales Property Development Fund.
Davies Richards Llys Aur Ltd has developed the 5,000 square foot and 3,000 square foot industrial units at Llys Aur at the Llanelli Gate business hub in Dafen. The PDF provided funding of £361,000 towards the costs of the development which has accommodated 26 jobs.
The larger unit is occupied by Glamorgan Motor Factors (GMF), one of the country’s leading professional distributors of automotive components, and the smaller unit by the Learning Partnership, which supports and trains teachers, advisors, head teachers and Early Years practitioners.
The South West Wales Property Development Fund (PDF) has been part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Government.
This regional scheme is being led by Carmarthenshire County Council in partnership with City and County of Swansea, Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council, Pembrokeshire County Council and the Welsh Government.
The programme aims to target speculative developments and priority will be given to applications that will provide tangible benefits to the local economy in terms of jobs, premises created, and the number of small and medium enterprises accommodated.
Davies Richards Llys Aur Ltd director Carwyn Davies said: “We have worked well with the Property Development Fund team and it is good to see how the PDF is delivering schemes in Carmarthenshire. The site at Llys Aur has easy access from the M4 motorway and is an ideal base for businesses in the county.”
The new building was officially opened by Carmarthenshire County Council executive board member for regeneration and leisure Cllr Meryl Gravell who said: “I think it’s absolutely brilliant. Llanelli Gate is a major hub for business in Carmarthenshire and the two businesses that have moved into the development, and their customers, have the benefit of excellent transport links to and from the site.”
