Classic line-up for fair

The January Antiques Fair at the National Botanic Garden of Wales is getting bigger and better.

Organised by Derwen Fairs, this year’s event – on Saturday and Sunday, January 12 and 13 – takes place in the Great Glasshouse and the regency-era Principality House.

Last year’s fair broke all records at the Garden with more than 6,800 visitors flocking to the Garden to enjoy the show. This year’s event – admission for which is just £2 for adults and free to the under-16s – will feature wonderful displays of fine Welsh art and pottery, quality jewellery and 17th century Welsh oak furniture.

Organiser Brita Rogers said: “This is a very exciting addition to Derwen Fairs’ portfolio of events and the Norman Foster-designed Great Glasshouse is a fabulous showcase for our Antiques Fair.”

She added: “The fair will be showcasing Welsh areas of collecting including pottery, art and furniture. Richard Bebb will be showcasing his Welsh paintings, including artists such as Kyffin Williams. Textiles will also be a feature at the fair. There will be a huge range of Welsh blankets on display.”

There will be an impressive 50+ stands showing off a variety of themes from ancient Chinese to the retro 60s and country farmhouse.

Also on display will be stands displaying gorgeous Victorian linen, vintage clothes, fans and costume jewellery, French clocks, and an appealing display of nostalgic interior designs. There will also be fishing reels, militaria and collections of Moorcroft pottery.

Says Brita: “If you want to invest in that special piece of glass or a good item of jewellery or silver then you will be spoilt for choice.”

Doors open at 10am and close at 4.30pm on each day. Admission is £2 and there is ample free parking.
