NEW litter bins are to be installed in Cross Hands.
It follows a meeting between Executive Board Member for Environmental and Public Protection Cllr Jim Jones and local members Cllr Emlyn Dole and Cllr Kim Thomas.
A litter recycling bin will be placed in Cross Hands Square so that residents can recycle while on the go. The bins have two separate sections – one for general litter and the other for paper, cans and plastic bottles making it easier for recycling. There is also an ashtray on top as well as chewing gum disposal.
Council officers will also be looking at other areas of the village where bins are needed.
Cllr Jones visited Cross Hands to meet with the local members to discuss issues in relation to dog, fouling, litter and fly-tipping.
Concerns were raised regarding litter at the back of the former Kwik Save store as a result of youths congregating there.
Environmental enforcement officers will now step up patrols in the area.
Cllr Jones said: “I am visiting a number of towns and villages throughout the county to meet with local members to discuss any problems they may have and what can be done about it.
“Dog fouling and litter is a key priority for the council and our officers will not hesitate to fine people they see breaking the law in this way.
“We are determined to keep Carmarthenshire clean for both residents and visitors.”
