The Regional Learning Partnership South West Wales is holding its annual event in Swansea’s Liberty Stadium next Wednesday (January 30).
The RLPSWW brings education and regeneration partners together to help provide a better future for learners and potential learners across the South West Wales region.
Since forming in 2007, the RLP has been recognised by the Welsh Government for its transformational work with regeneration and education organisations across Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, Neath Port Talbot, Swansea and Powys.
Next week’s event, Unlocking Our Potential, Skills, Employability, Enterprise and Growth, aims to reinforce the message that economic regeneration and skills are closely interlinked.
It will focus on business and employer engagement together with education and skills, supporting the principle of the two working alongside one another for the benefit of the regional economy through jobs and growth relating to skills.
It is intended to promote a coherent approach to the skills and employment challenges, promote the networking and learning opportunities within the region, promote emerging opportunities to planning and education and training provision to ensure it is always aligned to the needs of employers and focus on education, skills and economic growth.
The introduction and welcome to the event will be given by Chair of RLP Strategy Group Dave Gilbert and the Chair of the RLP Steering Group Karl Napieralla, and speakers will include Cllr Alun Thomas, leader of Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council and Joint Chair of Swansea Bay City Region Task and Finish Group, and Stephen Catchpole, MD of Tees Valley Unlimited.
Workshops will include Looking Below the Surface – the Third Sector in South West Wales, Dynamic Developments in Further and Higher Education, and E-Portal – Creating a Market Place for Training Providers.
