Officers in Burry Port and Kidwelly have executed four warrants across the Llanelli Rural policing area during the past week under section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.
These resulted in the following:
- An 18 year old man from Burry Port was cautioned after a quantity of cannabis was found at an address in the town.
- A 22 year old Burry Port man is due to appear before Magistrates in Llanelli in February charged with possession of cannabis
- A woman aged 27 was given a cannabis warning after being found in possession of the drug at an address in Carway.
- And finally a 24 year old man and 43 year old woman were issued with cannabis warnings in Ponthenri after they were found in possession of cannabis.
- Meanwhile in Llanelli town centre on the weekend a stop and search operation was carried out in response to the emerging trend of mephedrone use.
- A 22 year old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing mephedrone with intent to supply. He’s been bailed pending further inquiries.
- And two men aged 20 and 27 were arrested on suspicion of possessing mephedrone. Both received an adult caution.
“Police officers working across the Llanelli area will continue to carry out these stop and search operations and warrants as part of our on-going efforts to tackle the harm caused by drugs,” said Sergeant Heulwen Aston.
