Dyfed Powys has the lowest recorded frequencies of Domestic Burglary, Non-Domestic Burglary, Vehicle crime, General Theft, Criminal Damage and Robbery across England and Wales.

Violence against persons with injury is ranked 5th lowest and violence against person without injury ranked 9th lowest frequency.

Drug proactivity is the second highest level in England and Wales (7 drug offences per 1,000 population compared to an E&W average of 4 per 1,000 population).

Chief Constable Jackie Roberts said:

“It is very pleasing once again to note that the trend of falling recorded crime in our area during recent years has continued during the year ending September 2012. Dyfed Powys Police remains the lowest crime area across England and Wales whilst at the same time it is the most successful in terms of detecting crimes.

“This means that there are less victims of crime in our communities and there is a greater likelihood of offenders being caught.”

“The findings of the British Crime Survey support this although there are issues that need to be addressed in relation to public perceptions about overall crime, including burglary and crimes involving personal violence. We need to make sure people feel safe, because they are safe.”

“There are many reasons why we have been able to achieve these successes; for example we have excellent support from partners such as Community Safety Partnerships, local authorities and the Probation Service. Our police officers and police staff continue to do their very best on behalf of the public. We also enjoy a great deal of support from our local communities and this is reflected in increasing public confidence levels in Dyfed Powys Police.”
