Extra job support and advice is to be offered in Carmarthenshireā€™s most deprived communities.

Local government minister Carl Sargeant announced more than Ā£450,000 to deliver the service in Communities First areas.

The funding will be available till March 2015 so that Jobcentre Plus can work with Communities First areas to help workless families and in particular lone parents back into work.

This project builds on the highly successful pilot that the Job Centre Wales ran in Integrated Childrenā€™s Centres between 2010 and 2012and will play a key role in efforts to tackle poverty.

The project will deliver local support to parents and children aged under five and also strives to identify and support those parents who are the hardest to reach.

Carmarthenshire County Council leader Cllr Kevin Madge said: ā€œIā€™m delighted that the Welsh Government has provided this money to help people back into work.

ā€œIt will help to tackle poverty and contribute to reviving Carmarthenshireā€™s economy.ā€
