Llanelli based Xandao Welsh Kickboxing Academy hope to bring back Gold from a competition later this year.
Leighton Bryant who runs the club said:
“Xandao kickboxing has members of all levels and ages. It is a friendly family run club where everyone is welcomed. Whether you want to learn a martial art, keep fit , lose weight or build confidence Xandao offers the opportunity to achieve these goals.”
“We are taking 18 local youngsters to the WKC World Championships in Italy this October represent Wales. Some of the kids are genuine World championship contenders. However, it is going to cost each child around £450 to go.”
“In order to help the families involved, we are trying to raise funds to cover the costs of the children going.”
“We didn’t attend last year in Canada as it was too expensive. In Spain the previous tear, the team had won 2 double World Champions and a Silver and 3 Bronze Medals!”
Joanne Yeo, who daughter attends the club said:
“Kick Boxing and being part of a club has instilled pride in our younger members of the community. It has given them focus and helped children and adults alike to realise their strengths and build their self esteem.”
“To enable us to send our team to Italy, we’ve been embarking upon a fundraising drive and I’ve been writing to local businesses to ask if they can help in anyway e.g. a donation (raffle prize/monies) or even by sponsoring our team!”
“Their support will be very much appreciated and will help our team bring those trophies home!!”
