Llanelitown Welcomes Lesley Garrett!

Local audiences are in for a rare delight when Britain’s leading soprano, Lesley Garrett, performs locally with the Llanelli Choral Society.

“From Bach to Broadway and Beyond”, the annual performance of the Llanelli Choral Society, will feature star of opera, stage and screen Lesley Garrett joining forces with the Llanelli Choral Society all under the baton of celebrated conductor John Hywel Williams at Llanelli’s exciting new concert venue, The Ffwrnes, in October.

The evening will be a musical experience to remember, taking audiences on an exciting journey of music and song, from classical to 20th century, from Opera to Broadway. Performance highlights will include great favourites such as You’ll Never Walk Alone, Going Home from the New World Symphony, Some Enchanted Evening, Hallelujah Chorus, Aida’s Grand March, O Fortuna, Born Free, Exodus, Zadok the Priest – to name but a few.

“It will be a pleasure to perform with Lesley for local audiences”, explains conductor John Hywel Williams. “Lesley’s great voice and bubbly personality makes this a wonderful experience for audiences and artists alike.”

The exciting opportunity exists for local men and women with a love of singing to join the Llanelli Choral Society and enjoy the excitement of singing with stars such as Lesley Garrett.

• Lesley Garrett, star of stage and television, has enjoyed a string of her own television shows including Lesley Garrett…Tonight, The Lesley Garrett Show, The Singer, Sacred Songs and Lesley Garrett – Desert Dreams for the BBC. Lesley was also the subject of a South Bank Show on LWT.

• Lesley has 14 solo CDs to her credit with “A Soprano Inspired” and “Lesley Garrett” achieving gold disc status.
