There’s music in the air at the National Botanic Garden of Wales this St David’s Day – as well as FREE entry for all.
It’s free admission for everyone on Friday March 1st in honour of our patron saint and there’s a chance to have a go on a harp, watch a lovespoon being carved and join a ‘scratch’ band for an impromptu performance.
Harpist Shelley Fairplay will be holding harp workshops in the Gallery between 12.30pm and 2pm as well as playing in various venues around the Garden and local musician Helen Adam is inviting other ‘players’ to a ‘Sesiwn Dros Gymru’ in the Great Glasshouse between 1-3pm.
West Wales Herb Group member Heather Henderson will be giving a talk in Theatr Botanica at 11.30am entitled ‘Native trees as medicine’, in which she will look at the special properties of holly, oak, ash, lime, willow, elder and hazel.
Woodturner Les Bryan and lovespoon carver Tony Martin will also be in action through the day making special St David’s Day keepsakes and souvenirs in the Great Glasshouse.
