A WOMAN has been fined £75 after her dog fouled on the grass verge in Llannon and she failed to clean it up.
Council environmental enforcement officers saw the dog straying along the main road and defecate in the grass verge.
The officers managed to catch the dog and following investigations in the area, they managed to find the owner.
The woman was issued with a fixed penalty notice. If it is not paid, she can be prosecuted in court where the maximum fine is £1,000.
Executive Board Member for Environmental and Public Protection Cllr Jim Jones said: “Dog fouling is a top priority for the council, it can be a serious health risk and anyone caught failing to clean up after their pets will be prosecuted.
“Not being with the dog at the time of the offence is no excuse; if it is your dog then it is your responsibility to clean up after it.”
Enforcement officers carry out patrols across the county. Residents are also being asked to play their part and help the council catch offenders.
“We are urging residents to please contact us with any information they may have regarding dog fouling offences so that our officers can target those areas.”
