TWO people have been fined for dog fouling offences in Llanelli.
Council environmental enforcement officers issued the first fixed penalty notice for ÂŁ75 to a man by in Caswell Street in Penyfan.
The second was issued to a man who failed to clean up after his dog on the playing fields in Seaside.
Failure to pay the fines could result in prosecution in court and a maximum fine of ÂŁ1,000.
Executive Board Member for Environmental and Public Protection Cllr Jim Jones said enforcement officers carried out regular patrols across the county.
âDog mess left anywhere can be a serious health risk and we will not hesitate to fine those who fail to clean up after their pets,â he said.
âThe majority of dog owners are responsible and pick up after their pets, but there is a minority who do not care.
âHopefully this latest fine will help to get the message across that we will not tolerate this kind of irresponsible behaviour.â
Residents are being urged to help the council catch offenders by reporting dog fouling incidents in their area.
