Audiences are in for a musical rollercoaster as Llanelli’s Ffwrnes Theatre prepares itself for its largest production and the invasion of a giant cast of 300 singers and musicians.

“THE REALLY BIG SING!” – in aid of BBC Children in Need will see eight choirs unite as one giant chorus for a grand performance of over 300 voices and musicians.

 

This celebrity night of song promises to be a rollercoaster of giant choruses, enormous sing-a-longs and roof-raising singing starring the Hywel Girls’ Choir & Hywel Boy Singers and the 200+ voice Great Welsh Male Chorus comprising of the Burry Port Male Choir, Carmarthen Male Choir, Côr Meibion Dyffryn Tywi a’r Cylch, Cwmann & District Male Voice Choir, Haverfordwest Male Voice Choir, Mynydd Mawr Male Choir, Whitland & District Male Voice Choir, the award-winning Burry Port Town Band and soprano Adele O’Neill, organist Huw Tregelles Williams, pianist Jean Hywel, musical director Ryan Lee – under the acclaimed artistic direction of John Hywel Williams.

 

“It’s rare to see such a giant get together of voices for a single event”, explains Director John Hywel Williams. “The fun and vocal power of having 8 choirs perform as one and joined by our friends the Burry Port Town Band has all the hallmarks of a unique spectacular and all for a wonderful cause.”

 

Highlights will include giant sing-a-long favourites include Singing in the Rain, Les Miserables, The Sound of Music, Phantom of the Opera, The King and I, Amazing Grace and You’ll Never Walk Alone and well as great male choruses will include Llanfair, Arwelfa, Deo Salutis, Pan fo’r Nos yn Hir, Soldier’s Chorus, When the Saints, This is the Moment to name but a few.

 

A rumour is also going around that the BBC will also be sending down Pudsey Bear to possibly conductor a song or two.

 

THE REALLY BIG SING! will take place on Saturday 14th September at The Ffwrnes, Llanelli.
