What a win! The boys in red jerseys played with commitment, style and self-belief, proving most of the Rugby Commentators who predicted a close result totally wrong. In the end the score 30 -3 said it all.

The Welsh team stunned their English opponents with their brilliant style of play with those two tries by Alex Cuthbert taking the game to the highest ranking of Welsh victories. The Welsh roar must surely now be heard as the Lion’s tour decisions are made.

The crowd in the stadium and all of us who were among the largest TV audience ever were ecstatic in celebration as the crowds a commentator declared ‘turbo charged’ their team to victory!

Palm Sunday which we celebrate this Sunday has much to do with celebration and excitement. Jesus was entering the city to the acclaim of the people. Their cheering, however soon stopped when it became obvious that the way of God’s deliverance was at odds with their expectation of a warrior king.

They would hear from Jesus words such as love, forgiveness and reconciliation rather than screams of frenzied hate and retribution. That’s why we remember the King who comes in humility and whose final triumph over sin, death and evil we see in the Easter message of resurrection.

This Sunday we welcome the coming of Jesus as King and are reminded of God’s reign of justice peace and love which overcomes hatred, terrorism and fear.

‘Hosanna! to Him who comes in the name of the Lord’
