TV time for Llanelli choristers

Fans of Llanelli’s Hywel Girls’ Choir & Hywel Boy Singers can see the young choristers on TV over Easter weekend. (Sunday 31 March)

The young Hywel choristers, under the direction of John Hywel Williams, will feature on the Easter special programme of S4C’s flagship religious programme ‘Dechrau Canu Dechrau Canmol’ on Easter Sunday.

The Hywel Choir is no stranger to television broadcasts having enjoyed over 100 TV appearances in the UK and given national television broadcasts in Russia, Poland, The Netherlands, Italy, Austria, Bulgaria, Romania, Yugoslavia, Belgium, Czechoslovakia, Spain together with a televised performance for “Eurovision” from Belgrade televised to millions of viewers throughout the whole of Europe. The achievements of the choir and its founder John Hywel have also been a feature of an international television documentary broadcast across 120 countries.

The choristers were also busy filming in February at Swansea’s St. Mary’s Church which will be broadcast on St. David’s Day 2014. Later this Spring, the Hywel Choir will be filming for S4C’s ever popular ‘Noson Lawen’. Further TV appearances are planned for the Autumn.

In addition to a busy TV schedule, the choristers will enjoy an exciting concert season over coming months. They will be the stars of the sell-out “Last Night of the Proms” with the British Sinfonietta and the 200 massed chorus with the Dunvant Male Choir and Llanelli Choral Society, the BBC Children in Need’s “REALL BIG SING!” with 300 voices and musicians at Llanelli’s Ffwrnes Theatre, singing at the Yehudi Menuhin Concert Hall London as well as local performances in Kidwelly and Burry Port.
