South West Wales food producers, retailers, hospitality providers and groups are being offered a fantastic opportunity to participate in an international food tourism conference in Denmark through the Taste Local bursary scheme.
Danish hosts, LAG Slagelse, will be offering delegates from Italy, Malta and Wales an opportunity to learn about their food tourism offering through visits and talks with local food and hospitality businesses in the area.
The conference will be officially opened by the Mayor and Chair of the LAG Slagelse and will feature talks on experiences and networking in the food industry and modern methods of production. Attendees will also get the chance to take part in workshops such as ’Working with Local Produce in Hotels and Restaurants’ and ‘Wine and Food Routes in Italy’.
The Taste Local Initiative is offering food tourism businesses within the RDP areas of South West Wales an opportunity to apply for a bursary* to enable those wishing to attend.
The project can fund 80% towards a visit up to a maximum of £800 per business/group. Led by Carmarthenshire LAG and delivered by the South West Wales Tourism Partnership, Taste Local aims to enhance and improve South West Wales’ food offer by exploring how delivery partners across the EU develop their local food culture.
With a focus on the use of local produce, Taste Local aims to share best practice by helping South West Wales businesses to learn from transnational partners. On their return these businesses can apply this new knowledge to their own business and share it with others through workshops/masterclasses and presentations across the region.
The project is being funded through the Co-operation Fund under Axis 4 of the Rural Development Plan (RDP) for Wales 2007-2013, which is funded by the Welsh Government and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.
