Keep Wales Tidy events in April 2013

Keep Wales Tidy are organising events and are looking for volunteers, details below:

  • 4th – Cleanup: Danybanc & Llundain Fach – https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=51.696668,-4.15162&hl=en&num=1&t=h&z=17 (Parking area just off Danybanc). (11am – 1pm). Tools and equipment will be available but if possible please bring gloves.
  • 6th – Beach clean: Machynys – https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=51.661522,-4.160857&hl=en&num=1&t=h&z=17 (Opposite entrance to Pentre Nicklaus). (10.30am – 1.30pm). Tools and equipment will be available, but if possible please bring gloves. KWT OFFICER WILL NOT BE PRESENT AT THIS EVENT.
  • 6th – Working party: Troserch Woods – https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=51.718056,-4.106011&hl=en&num=1&t=h&z=16 (Car park adjacent to Graig Fach). (9.30am – 12.30pm). Troserch Woods Society will be concentrating on litter picking and anything else that may arise. Please bring gloves. KWT OFFICER WILL NOT BE PRESENT AT THIS EVENT.
  • 8th – River cleanup: Glanamman – https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=51.806983,-3.924608&hl=en&num=1&t=m&z=16 (Entrance to Ger Yr Afon). (10am – 1pm). Some tools and equipment will be available, but if possible please bring gloves.
  • 9th – Working party: Pontyberem – https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=51.778634,-4.169827&hl=en&num=1&t=h&z=17 (Rear of main car park). (10am – 1pm). Work can include litter picking, flytip clearance, footpath maintenance and / or community garden works. Tools and equipment will be available but if possible please bring gloves.
  • 12th – Cleanup: Lower Lleidi (Swiss Valley) Reservoir – https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=51.71668,-4.150525&hl=en&num=1&t=h&z=17 (Bottom car park). (11am – 1pm). Tools and equipment will be available, but if possible please bring gloves.
  • 15th & 16th – Gate and fence erecting: Morfa Berwig – https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=51.669894,-4.107728&hl=en&num=1&t=m&z=16 (End of Berwick Road). (9.30am – 2.30pm). Llanelli Water Vole Action Group will be repairing damaged fencing and erecting new fences around the site. New gates will also be built and erected on site. Tools and equipment will be available but please bring gloves if possible.
  • 18th – Setting out work: Llannon Allotments – https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=51.759234,-4.113307&hl=en&num=1&t=h&z=16 (Field next to school). (9.30am – 2.30pm). Llannon Community Allotment Group will be undertaking work setting out new plots and making improvements to paths. Tools and equipment will be available but please bring gloves if possible. THIS EVENT IS NOT SUITABLE FOR YOUNG CHILDREN.
  • 20th – Working party: Troserch Woods – https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=51.718056,-4.106011&hl=en&num=1&t=h&z=16 (Car park adjacent to Graig Fach). (9.30am – 2.30pm). Troserch Woods Society will be focusing on removing trees blocking footpaths. Some tools and equipment will be available, but if possible please bring gloves, bow saw, loppers, chainsaw**. THIS EVENT IS NOT SUITABLE FOR YOUNG CHILDREN.
  • 26th – Beach clean: Ferryside – https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=51.76864,-4.370295&hl=en&num=1&t=h&z=18 (Car park above beach next to slipway). (9.45am – 1pm). Tools and equipment will be available but if possible please bring gloves.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE MEETING POINTS ARE WHERE THE ARROW IS POINTING, NOT POINT A.

All (unless otherwise stated) are welcome to join the above events. You are welcome to stay for the duration or any time you can give will be greatly received. For all day events (those that continue after 1pm), please bring lunch as we don’t provide this, and the work locations are often not near food outlets / shops.

If you arrive after the designated start time, please ring 07824 504805 when you arrive in case we have moved on to a different part of the site, or come and look for us.

Children under 16 should be accompanied by an adult.

You are covered under Keep Wales Tidy’s insurance while at these events.

Please dress sensibly to suit the weather conditions on the day. Suitable footwear should also be worn (not sandals / flip flops, formal shoes); safety boots are ideal, but anything fairly rugged will be acceptable.

* You must bring your own PPE for using strimmer (gloves / long sleeve top / face protection). If using a brushcutter (strimmer with blade) you must bring along a LANTRA or NPTC certificate of competence. Failure to do so will result in the insurance being invalid.
