Interview questions by Trudi Goldsmith

Can you introduce yourselves and tell us what each person in the band’s role is?

A Sudden Disturbance (ASD) is a Dark Rock band, with Mike Valo on vocals, Keith Evans on guitar, and Dean Davies on bass. ASD has performed live across Wales, and are currently working towards recording a self made EP.

Can you tell us how long the band has been together?

ASD has been going on for a few years however with its current line up we have been gigging for 6 months

How would you describe your music?

We would say it’s kind of dark really. We try to make it so it has energy behind it but with more of a sinister tone.

Where do you get your influences for your songs?

Influences have been from watching a band live and coming away full of ideas, to particular events that happen within our lives.

What makes you different from other bands?

We use a backing track for drums, with this method we found that we can play more venues on the pub scene and it also gives us more room on the stage. We would also say we are different as we try to portray a darker image, being the villains instead of being the heroes.

Do you plan to enter the Llanelli 2013 Battle of the Bands competition?

No, at the moment, we plan to get newer material under our belt as we have been gigging with the same songs for quite a while.

What’s the best and worst thing about being in a band?

Best thing of being in a band is the thrill of performing and watching people taking interest in the songs we wrote, worst thing is the head work of getting gigs.

Do you have any memorable gig stories (ie good or band)?

Our most memorable gig is probably our Halloween gig where we went with an Alice Cooper theme, everyone in the crowd dressed up and we had the whole building looking like how we want our image to look. We had the crowd up on stage to join in with some classic Halloween songs too.

Do you have any advice for people wanting to play in a band – ie best way to find band members etc?

Social media and putting an advert in the window of your local music shop worked for us. Facebook has been our best help though.

Do you have any gigs booked in the Llanelli area following the Llanelli Music Scene Launch party event?

No, we used the Llanelli Music Scene event to end our string of South Wales based dates before we start our month of song writing.

Where can people find out more about the band and how to book you for future gigs?
