FAMILIES in Llwynhendy have been hearing about the benefits of recycling and reducing your rubbish.
An open day was held at Llwynhendy Children’s Centre, which offers a range of activities for local people.
Recycling officers from Carmarthenshire County Council also went along to give advice and information to residents on their recycling scheme.
It included what could go in the blue bag, how to reduce food waste and the benefits of using real nappies instead of disposables.
Recycling & Waste Minimisation Officer Karen Fulham said: “It was a great opportunity to speak to residents about recycling and answer any questions they may have had – from what could be recycled using the blue bags to their nearest bottle bank.
“We want to make it as easy as possible for residents to recycle; we also want people to think about how much they are wasting and encourage them to make better choices such as buying less packaged goods or repairing something instead of just throwing it away.
“Like all councils in Wales, we have recycling targets to meet so it is important we all do our bit and recycle everything we can instead of sending it to landfill.”
