Winston Lemon, Mayor of Llanelli opened the Halfords, creating 5 new jobs in the area with plans to hire an apprentice in the future, and improving peace of mind and affordability for motorists.

Halfords Autocentre, based on Pemberton Retail Park, Trostre, is the latest to be opened by the UK’s leading independent MOT, car servicing, tyre and repair specialist – and represents a six-figure sum investment in Llanelli. It is then set to contribute a further £15,000 to the South Wales economy by purchasing consumables from local suppliers.

Winston Lemon, Mayor of Llanellii, said: “It was an honour to open the new Halfords Autocentre. It’s good to see a business expanding and the facilities at the garage are second to none. I spent some time with all the technicians and they’re a really enthusiastic and friendly bunch, eager to do a good job for the people of Llanelli. I wish them luck with their new business.”

There are now over 285 Halfords Autocentres across the UK – 15 of which are in Wales. The opening is set to bring a valued service for locals in Llanelli, with eight out of 10 customers happy to recommend their local Autocentre and 95% of customers stating they are happy with the quality of work and service.

Geraint Evans, manager at Halfords Autocentre, said: “Across the Halfords Autocentre network we pride ourselves on delivering quality work at affordable prices, and we bring that same commitment to Llanelli.

“It can be challenging to find an independent centre that you can trust, and many customers in the South Wales area still rely upon their car manufacturer to provide very costly repairs or MOT’s. Each of our mechanics is qualified to the highest standard – meaning that we have the expertise within each of our Autocentres to work on any car make or model. With a National reputation and 30-year heritage, we provide a reliable and trustworthy but less expensive alternative, and peace of mind from a garage you can depend on.“

Halfords Autocentres will also bring a range of offers for Llanelli residents – such as the free safety and tyre check. With no obligation to have any necessary work carried out, the Halfords Autocentre health check aims to provide peace of mind for local motorists and comes with a local price match guarantee.

With nine out of ten UK car owners saying they are left bewildered by terminology used by garages, Halfords Autocentres is committed to eliminating the jargon frequently spoken by mechanics to motorists. Halfords Autocentres is therefore championing the use of ‘plain English’ and its ‘Glossary of Garage Speak’ – an easy to understand guide of motoring industry terms – is available free of charge from the garage.
