The Hungry Horse (in the Stepney Newydd). If you are looking for the best American food in Llanelli, Carmarthenshire, and possibly in all of Wales, then look no further! The Hungry Horse, located within the New Stepney, is the place!
This is a genuine, American-style steakhouse. From the bright pop art decor, to the yankee-size portions, the Hungry horse delivers an authentic experience.
How would I know? Well, I was born and raised in America!
My husband and I have eaten here twice. I even ordered the same thing to make sure the quality was consistent. I must say – the 9oz. sirloin and 1/2 slab of BBQ ribs are the BEST I have eaten in a restaurant since my arrival.
Even the barbeque sauce was the most authentic I’ve tasted this side of the pond (aside from my own homemade). The food is of excellent quality, and cooked perfectly to order. Rare meat lovers take heart! You can order your steak “bleu,” here (which I did)!
The supper platters tend to come with several American-style sides, and the portions are large enough to please even the biggest eaters.
A noteworthy item on the menu, is the “(Wo)Man VS. Burrito” platter. This thing is so large, they dare you to eat it all!
Another item of note, that was available as a special, on both occasions we dined, was the “Megasaurus sirloin steak.” Ten ounces of perfectly seared beef, for a very reasonable price. Several of our friends ordered this item, on our first visit and there were smiles all around.
The staff are friendly and fantastic, and the restaurant is clean. All in all, I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to have a good hearty meal in a casual environment for a budget-conscious price.
I give the Hungry Horse *8* STARS, out of a possible *10*. Go and try this good local restaurant today!
