A new independent retailer has opened a gift and contempory home furnishings shop in Llanelli and hopes to help play a part in the rejuvenation of the Town centre.

Emilia May Gifts sells a variety of Arts and crafts from hand made dribble bibs to slate gifts.

Owner Jonathan Armstrong told us:

“We chose to open a shop in the town centre as we live here and want to support the local economy.”

“We used to attend a lot of gift and craft fayres in the county and people would tell us Llanelli needed somewhere to buy items like ours.”

“So, when we noticed the town was being rejuvenated and saw a suitable shop with an affordable rental decided to take the risk.”

“Having met so many wonderful crafters along the way who found themselves in a similar situation to ours, we asked a few if they would like to display their items in the shop.”

“That’s how the craft displays at the back of the shop were born!”

“These have the capacity to change regularly so the shop always has new lines and appeals to different people and different budgets.”

“We sell Welsh language books and cards as well as some Welsh gifts, including slate, token wedding gifts, new baby gifts as well as a range of homewares and hope to become a stockist of Annie Sloan paint.”

“Above all we feel like we want to give people a reason for visiting the town centre again and if other independent retailers follow suit the town centre will thrive again.”

Emilia May Gifts is at 1 Stepney Street, Llaneli and is open Tuesday – Saturday 10:00am until 5:00pm
