The on-going operation to tackle anti-social and dangerous riding of motorcycles has continued again this past weekend in the Dyfed Powys Police force area.

The operation resulted in the following:

  • 33 Motorcycles stopped.
  • 9 Bikers reported for excess speed
  • 1 biker reported for overtaking on solid white lines
  • 3 number plate offences
  • 1 reported for no tax
  • 1 reported for driving whilst not in accordance with a licence
  • 1 sec 165 seizure bike

In addition the following offences were detected during the campaign:

  • 2 car drivers arrested for drink drive having originally been stopped for excessive speed in Powys and Carmarthenshire.
  • 7 excess speed offences for cars
  • 3 drug detections
  • 3 mobile phone offences
  • 3 sec 165 for no insurance

“Officers have once again been targeting that minority of riders who don’t ride safely or within the law,” said Sergeant Ian Price. “Riders who come into our force area and use our roads can expect to see us out and about in the coming weeks and months carrying out similar operations.

“We welcome and want to encourage bikers to enjoy the roads within Dyfed Powys, but to ride sensibly and within the spirit of the Highway Code.

“It should be encouraging to bikers that we do not discriminate against them as shown by a number of other motorists who have been dealt with positively. Often it’s the case that bikes come into conflict with cars through no fault of the bike rider.”
