Carmarthenshire Learning Festival is a part of the Adult Learners’ Week. The Carmarthenshire Learning Festival Group is a partnership of organisations, groups, businesses and individuals who have a passion for Adult Education and Learning.

Adult Learners Week is taken place between 18th – 25th May where there have been a number of different events taking place, offering advice and support for adults who want to join and get back into learning. Whether it’s to learn a new skill, to build confidence or if you didn’t do so well in school then these organisations will help you. They offer a wide variety of courses to go on, over 500 in Carmarthenshire held in over 50 venues.

These courses are held in community halls and libraries. It helps build confidence in adults who are less confident in going to a college to do them. It can help progress your confidence so you can do part time courses in a college. There are ‘Basic Learning Skills’ courses being held in Llanelli Library, offering help and support to adults on English and Maths up to a GCSE level.adults learners week

On Friday 24th May, there were a few events happening in St Elli Shopping Centre, Llanelli. There was a gadget show where there were demonstrations of how to use modern technology such as Ipads, Iphones, E-readers, and Tablets demonstrated by Communities 2.0. The public were also able to ask advice on how to use their gadgets. There was also advice for courses on computers and IT.

There is one last event happening tomorrow (25th May) in the Antheneum Hall, Llanelli Library, Vaughan Street. It is called ‘Social People – Social Action – Social Worlds’ where there will be showcasing Social Actions and Learning projects that have originated in or been developed in the country and have an impact on the rest of the world. This event will be on from 10.30am – 3pm. Get yourselves down there for a lovely informative day and be inspired.
