The Kilkenny Cat was rocked to the core on Saturday 1st June when Llanelli Music Scene hit the venue with three superb local live bands Superhans, Donkey Punch and Fatal Desire. Music Scene & Llanelli Town TV’s Keith Evans assisted by Daryl Hurley managed the video cameras for the night recording the bands sets and he also set up two tv links which meant that wherever you were in the pub you could see the bands on one of the tv screens.

The evening commenced with myself introducing the first act,the brilliant three piece band ‘Superhans’ who opened the show playing a blinding set of covers including songs by Brian Adams, Radiohead, Ugly Kid Joe, The Cranberries and Blink 182 all of which got people up and dancing, and feet were tapping and heads nodding all around the pub. Superhans finished up their bouncing set with an epic version of Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit.

Superhans

In the absence of the scheduled compare, Mat Scarll drummer of Superhans took on the additional role of introducing the following two bands, which he did like a pro.

Donkey Punch played another blinding set mixed with covers and original songs impressing the crowd with the dual vocal skills of singers Kim and Mark throughout their set. The band tied up their set with Kim taking centre stage vocally to sing a magnificent version of the Gossip song Standing in the Way of Control whilst guitarist Fosta unbuttoned his shirt in good slapstick humour to play the last song posing and playing his guitar in true spoof rock star style.

Donkey Punch

The runners up of the Llanelli Battle of the Bands 2013 Fatal Desire headlined the night and played an original set with a few covers thrown in. The set included their original rock anthem aptly entitled Fatal Desire and rock they did, magnificently, with people who were watching the band engrossed in the swing of things by raising their hands in the air and rocking to the music. Cover songs included The Cult song She Sells Sanctuary which got people dancing by the side of the bar and a rock version of Sex Bomb with Singer Liam finishing up the last song with an epic long scream.

Rock !!!
