Dear Time2Talk

My name is Carla and I’ve just found out that my boyfriend is cheating on me with my best friend!

What should I do stay with him because he is a really nice guy he spoils me all the time, or should I do the dirty on him to show him what it’s like?

Cheers x

Dear Carla,

I’m sorry to hear that your boyfriend has been cheating on you and the fact that it’s with your best friend makes it a whole lot worse and upsetting.

Ultimately, the decision is yours. But I do advise that you think of the following before you make any decisions.

  • If he has cheated on you once then what is to say that he won’t do it again?
  • Cheating is unacceptable and you know the saying ‘two wrongs don’t make a right’. If you go ahead and do the same it could actually make you feel worse, and the situation could escalate out of control.
  • Can you trust him again if you do stay with him?
  • He may spoil you and you think he is a nice guy etc… but if he had respect for you, then would he be cheating on you?

You are a lady and a lady that deserves the best. You don’t have to settle for any else and why should you?

Whatever you decide to do it’s going to be tough on you. If you stay with him then you will have the stress of worrying if he will cheat on you again. If you leave him it will be difficult and upsetting for you not to have him in your life anymore.

You have a big decision to make, but I definitely don’t think that cheating on him too will help your situation in the long run.

Be strong, hold your head up high and always remember that you deserve to be treated with respect and you deserve the best!

Good luck!

Gemma.

PS – If he is capable of cheating on you with your best friend, he may have slept with other women too. You may need to consider making an appointment with your STI (Sexually Transmitted Infection) clinic. This may not be something to worry about but I think it’s something you need to do for peace of mind.
