A warm and sunny 26th June saw Jamie & Steffs of The Sosban Riders take on Pencoed Kids Triathlon. Jamie was racing in the Tristars 2 age category (200m swim, 3.8k bike, 1.5k run), while Steffs, who only decided he wanted to do it the day before, took part in the Fun2Tri race (50m swim, 1.2k bike, 900m run)

As we arrived at Pencoed Pool both boys were uncharacteristically quiet admitting they were feeling nervous. However, once we had registered and they had seen some familiar faces, full excitement was restored!

Steffs race was first , two lengths of the pool followed by a short run to the transition area where he put on his Sosban shirt, shoes , helmet & race number belt and hopped on his bike for 2,5 laps of the cricket field followed by a run back to the finish line. Jamies race started shortly after and both boys finished with a smile on their faces.

The event was well organised with a relaxed friendly atmosphere and great support from the spectators. All competitors came away with a certificate and goody bag. The boys thoroughly enjoyed and are looking forward to the next one – roll on Cymmer Tri!
