Father’s Day without Dad

By Renate Nicholson

This Sunday is going to be so hard

No telephone call, no Father’s day card

It’s not getting easier, like they all said

I wish I could curl up and hide in my bed

But I need to make Dad happy and make him proud

Pull myself together and face the crowd

Take comfort in knowing Dad’s by my side

Living each day with Dad as my guide

When I close my eyes, I see Dad’s smile

Maybe I’ll keep them closed for a while

I love you Dad, I know you know

It’s just been so hard to let you go

But I’ll make you happy and I’ll make you proud

Take each day as it comes and face the crowd.

Happy Father’s Day!
