FRONTLINE council staff are doing their bit to ensure members of the public are staying safe and well during the heatwave.
Social Care teams in particular are taking extra measures to ensure the most vulnerable are coping, including making extra home visits wherever possible.
Staff are following Welsh Government guidelines to help those who are more likely to be suffering in the heat, therefore relieving pressure on health services who are experiencing higher demand.
Whilst outside temperatures have not reached extreme levels, temperatures indoors can become dangerously high.
Cllr Jane Tremlett, Executive Board Member for Health and Social Care, said: “We are doing all we can to support the most vulnerable members of our community. Helping people, even in a small way, might make all the difference.
“We would urge people to keep an eye on older members of their family, friends and neighbours – just pop in and check that they are okay, that they’ve got access to fluids and are able to keep themselves cool.
“Just offering to do simple tasks like popping to the shop on their behalf would be a big help.”
