PLANS for a small wind turbine at a farm in Five Roads have been deferred for a site visit.

Carmarthenshire County Council’s planning committee was told that an application had been received to erect a 50KW wind turbine at Ty Mawr Farm, Five Roads.

Officers have recommended approving the scheme saying: “The proposal will have a positive contribution upon the national renewable energy targets as well as providing the farm with a readily available energy source that could help improve its economic wellbeing.

“Furthermore, the proposal will cause no significant visual harm to the landscape setting of the surrounding rural area or result in any significant adverse impact upon the level of amenity currently enjoyed by neighbouring residents or users of the surrounding countryside.”

More than 40 letters of objection have been sent to the council covering devaluation of property, loss of view, and other issues.

Local member Cllr Jim Jones said: “On behalf of the residents of Five Roads I would like to ask for a site visit. When we had a meeting in the village the hall was packed and the majority wanted a site visit.”
