A Carmarthenshire couple have been fined £1,000 each for keeping a mobile home full time on land at Marros, Pendine.

Carmarthenshire County Council issued an Enforcement Notice for the home as it was permanently sited and therefore required planning permission.

No appeal was made to the Planning Inspectorate and, as the mobile home had not been removed by the date specified in the notice, the local authority prosecuted.

Mr and Mrs David and Andrea Ormond of Waterwynch, Red Roses, Whitland, were prosecuted as landowners for failing to comply with the notice.

They pleaded guilty at Llanelli Magistrates Court to an offence under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 of failing to comply with an Enforcement Notice.

They were each fined £1,000 and each ordered to pay costs of £163.60 and a victim surcharge of £15.

Executive board member for environmental and public protection Cllr Jim Jones said: “If people fail to comply with an enforcement notice we will not hesitate to prosecute.

Whilst the mobile home remains on the land there is a risk of further prosecution.”
