RESIDENTS of Llanybydder and Llanllwni are the latest to benefit from the launch of a local Fuel Club.

Supported by Carmarthenshire County Council’s Housing department, volunteers from the community have come together to form a club where they can make big savings by buying oil in bulk.

The club is being co-ordinated by local resident Suzy Bale, who has received support and training in negotiating deals with oil suppliers, as well as taking orders and arranging delivery.

It is the latest club to be established in Carmarthenshire by people looking to save money on their energy bills.

Thousands of pounds have already been saved across communities, mainly in rural towns and villages where oil is the main source of energy.

As well as monetary savings, fuel club members are also doing their bit for the environment, cutting down on the number of deliveries oil companies have to make to the area.

Cllr Tegwen Devichand, Executive Board Member for Housing, said: “These Fuel Clubs have been a real success story, and it is great that Housing staff can support tenants and residents in this way, so that they are able to save on what is probably one of their biggest bills.”

If you live in or around Llanybydder or Llanllwni and you could benefit from joining the Fuel Club to order your oil. Visit co-ordinator Suzy Bale is available at Llanybydder Family Centre on the last Tuesday of every month, between 10am and 12pm, or email llanybydderfuelclub@hotmail.co.uk.

Registration forms and order forms may be posted in the family centre mail box at other times.
