Well, if you weren’t at the Met Bar on Saturday 7th September for Llanelli Music Scene’s‘ Rock it For Your Llanelli’ night then you missed out on a fab night of great local live music.
The night kicked off with the four piece band the ‘Alley Cats’. The band consists of guitar teacher Keith Devereaux on guitar, his pupil Lewis on bass, Keith’s son Jake on drums and his girlfriend Jess on vocals. The ‘Alley Cats’ put on a really great set of cover songs including ‘Black night,’ ‘Paranoid’,’Smoke on the Water’ and ‘You Really Got Me’ to name but a few. A cover of the Bryan Adams song ‘Summer of 69’ got Superhans Drummer Mat Scarll up dancing accompanied by myself. What a rocking set!!

Next up was the fabulous ‘Zookeepers’ the winners of the 2013 Llanelli and Carmarthenshire Battle of the Bands. I absolutely love seeing these guys play live and tonight they put on a brilliant set of indie rock originals with the odd cover thrown in, finishing up their set with their fantastic original song ‘Winter’. Amazing!!

The Met started to fill more with people by the time headline act ‘Superhans’ took to the stage and you know you will be entertained when these guys play. Tonight their set included covers by Stereophonics, Blink 182, The Cult, The Beastie Boys, Ugly Kid Joe, The Kaiser Chiefs et al. By the end of Superhans set people in the crowd were shouting for more and Superhans obliged by playing another song, ‘You Really Got Me’ ending the night on a high . Brilliant!!
