There’s a twin treat for classic car fans at the National Botanic Garden of Wales this month.
On Sunday September 22, as part of the 100th anniversary celebration of the Morris marque, a group of enthusiasts will be visiting the Garden and showing off their vehicles – some dating back to the 1930s.
Secretary of the Welsh branch of the Morris Register, John Howells explains: “There are a series of centenary tours around the UK this year and this is our celebration. We will be travelling from Llandrindod Wells to Llangollen to Llanberis and then to Cardigan – with overnight stops in each place – before calling in for Sunday lunch at the National Botanic Garden.”
Mr Howells’ Morris dates from 1935 (and is 78 years old!) and he’s hoping it will be in fine enough fettle to make the trip around Wales.
The following Sunday (the 29th) there could be as many at 70 cars – classic and modern – when the Swansea MG Enthusiast Club stop off at the Garden on their Brecon Beacons Car Run.
Organiser Carol Hutson said: “We will have an MGA from 1961 and there will be lots of MGBs, MGCs and Midgets from the 60s onwards. There could be anything between 65 and 75 vehicles, I would think.”
