Submission of the Carmarthenshire Local Development Plan to the Welsh Government

CARMARTHENSHIRE County Council has submitted its Local Development Plan to the Welsh Government to enable the Plan to be examined in public.

The move follows a resolution of the full Council in June.

Any representations made at the Deposit Plan and Alternative Site stages have also been submitted to the Welsh Government, as have the Sustainability Appraisal Report, Habitat Regulations Assessment Report, and other background evidence papers.

All representations received in respect of the current consultation into the ‘focused changes’ to the Plan and the Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) will also be submitted to the Welsh Government following the closure of the consultation period on October 11.

An independent Planning Inspector will conduct the examination to determine whether the plan is sound.

A public notice will be issued in the local press at least six weeks before the opening of the examination and notification of commencement of the examination, with future details and information set out on the examination pages of the Council’s website.

When the policies and proposals set out in the Plan are adopted, the LDP will form the development plan for the county, superseding the current Unitary Development Plan (UDP), and will be the basis for decisions on land use planning within the county.

Copies of the LDP submission documents are available electronically for public inspection at all public libraries in the County and at specific Council offices during normal opening hours.
