Loughor Castle and Parc Williams provide a beautiful setting for the first Mabsant in Loughor in living memory.

Supported by events in the Boating Club and a concert in the Historic St. Michael’s Church, a weekend of music and fun lies ahead.

The Loughor Mabsant gets off to a thrilling start on Friday with an evening of music & dance in the Loughor Boating Club, with the estuary providing the perfect backdrop.

Headlining the evening will be Y Plebs. They play an infectious brand of sing-along, in Welsh, getting the audience to join in lustily with the choruses familiar from childhood.

They will be supported by Rocky Road, with their mix of traditional Irish tunes & songs.

The audience will be encouraged to get up, dance, sing along & generally have a great time.

Also featuring will be regulars from The Riverside Folk Club.

Saturday afternoon in Parc Williams, Mayhem & Music, Fun & Festivities

 

Saturday, 28th September, Parc Williams, 11.30 – 5.00. Free Entry

Parc Williams is host to the family fun at the Loughor Mabsant.

Entry is from 11.30, with the official opening at 12.00.

There will be a stage with bands & musicians; The Men of Sweyn’s Ey Morris Dancing side will be putting on a show; The Mari Lwyd will be making an unseasonably early appearance.

Brodyr Baeddwen, a mediaeval re-enactment group will have a camp with displays and activities for all. They will also be staging pitched battles through the day.

There will be display of pole lathe turning, craft stalls, a hog roast and games for the children.

Saturday night at St.Michael’s Church.

D’n’A, Delyth & Angharad Jenkins in concert

Saturday 28th September, St. Michael’s Church, 7.00-9.00

Delyth & Angharad, mother & daughter, appear in concert at St.Michael’s church, Loughor.

This beautiful setting will perfectly showcase their musical talents. They have previously appeared at the Riverside Folk Club to rapturous acclaim and this concert is eagerly anticipated.

They will be supported by the group, The Occasional Domestics, featuring Jamie Nemeth on Fiddle.

This is the only ticketed event in the festival and early booking is advised as seating is limited.

Tickets are £5.00.

Sunday afternoon,

Blessing of the Inshore Lifeboat, Sunday 29th September, 5.00pm

The Loughor Inshore Lifeboat will be paraded from the Lifeboat station to St.Michael’s Church.

Here there will be a service of dedication and the boat will be blessed. Children from local school choirs will form part of the service. The Lifeboat will then be paraded back to the station.

This is a perfect opportunity for the people of Loughor to show their gratitude to those brave volunteers who work to keep the sea safe for all.

Following the return of the lifeboat, we will repair to the Boating Club for more music & song to close what promises to be a wonderful weekend.
