Who let the dogs in? We did – and we are doing it again on Saturday September 28 and Sunday March 9.
As part of an ongoing ‘doggy day’ trial at the National Botanic Garden of Wales, responsible owners will be invited to bring their pets into the Garden. These new dates follow the first ‘Doggy Day’ earlier this year.
Head of marketing at the Garden, David Hardy said: “The Dog-friendly holiday is a very successful niche market here in West Wales and, as a tourist attraction, it’s important that we stay abreast of visitor trends.”
He added: “It is interesting to note that the likes of Bodnant and the Eden Project are also thinking along similar lines to us.”
Curator Simon Goodenough said: “It is our most frequently asked question: ‘are dogs allowed?’ so this is really about public demand.”
There are some basic rules such as dogs being kept on leads, off the flower beds, out of the buildings and that owners clear up after their pets.
“We are asking people to act responsibly and be considerate as we are not geared up for poop scooping – but there’s lots of room for everyone and plenty to explore,” he added. Accounts
The National Botanic Garden is open from 10am until 6pm. There is no entrance fee for dogs.
