Two of Scarlets’ bright young things headed out into the community earlier this week to encourage and motivate the region’s next generation to get involved in rugby.

Scarlets’ Samson Lee and Steven Shingler visited Furnace RFC on Monday 14th October as part of the region’s community roadshow.

The Scarlets Community Roadshow sees the region’s development officers and players head out into the region to offer training sessions at each of the regional clubs with a strong focus on encouraging participation, teamwork and fun through rugby.

Steven Shingler said: “Myself and Samson had a great time at Furnace and it was fantastic to see so many young children out on the field.

“We all started playing rugby at a young age and have to thank our clubs for the support that we’ve all received along the way. Having the opportunity to come out into the community and give back to the clubs is great and we really appreciate the support that we receive from our regional clubs.

“There was some real talent out on the pitch at Furnace and there’s no doubt that we’ll see some of these faces representing the Scarlets in a few years time!”

The Scarlets, along with the regional WRU development officers, are heading out into the community to encourage new players to take up rugby and the region is delighted to hear that 10 new players came along to Furnace RFC’s training session on Monday.

Scarlets are making visits to junior clubs right across the region over the next few months. For more information on when your club is due a visit please contact the community department on community@scarlets.co.uk
