Nia Griffith MP took part in a recent parliamentary debate on badger vaccination.
It was a well – attended debate with MPs from both government and opposition benches expressing concern about the recent cull, and demanding more work be done on promoting good practice in animal husbandry and considering badger vaccination programmes, including the use of volunteers to deliver them.
Speaking up in the debate, Nia pointed out the work that the Welsh Government has already done in implementing badger vaccination programmes, and called on UK Government ministers to work closely with the Welsh Government, to learn the lessons from their experience. Nia has previously spoken up to advocate not just badger vaccination, but more work on cattle vaccination and the DIVA test, to meet EU regulations, so that this becomes a viable option.
