Carmarthenshire County Council is urging local residents to support the British Legion Poppy Appeal again this year.
Council Chair Cllr Terry Davies has offered the council’s support to the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal and agreeing that poppies can be placed in council premises.
This year’s Poppy Appeal is again focusing on the Afghan generation of the Armed Forces family.
The Head of the Poppy Appeal Ray Sheppard said: “During the 2012 Poppy Appeal we again received wonderful support from the public. The Poppy Appeal raised a fantastic total in excess of £36.8 million.
“Since 2003 the Legion has helped more than 10,000 serving, ex-Service and family members who are part of the Afghan and Iraq generation.
“With the Afghan conflict continuing at its current intensity it is inevitable that this number will continue to rise and we intend to be there for them and their families today and for the rest of their lives.”
Cllr Terry Davies said: “I’m pleased to offer the council’s support for the Poppy Appeal. The work that the British Legion does is as much needed as it’s ever been.”
