YOUNG people across Carmarthenshire are invited to the 10th anniversary event of the Youth Council.

It is taking place as part of the annual conference on Wednesday, November 27, at Ffos Las Racecourse in Trimsaran, from 9am to 2.30pm.

To mark the 10th anniversary, the Youth Council has named this year’s conference The Big One, which will focus on children’s rights and promote the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Workshops, speeches and group discussions will address the main themes of the conference and challenge young people to think about Children’s Rights in Carmarthenshire.

The afternoon is dedicated to celebrating the commitment and effort of young people in Carmarthenshire who have volunteered their time over the past 10 years to make the Youth Council what it is today.

It will include looking back at the achievements of the past decade and thanking former members.

Services and support available to young people across Carmarthenshire will also be promoted.

Young people will have the opportunity to meet members of the youth service and supporting organisations, take part in mini sessions, activities and gain a snap shot on what is available to them.

Chair Adam Cousins, aged 18, said: “I hope to see a lot of young people at our event as Children’s Rights are so important. It’s surprising to learn that not many young people know what their rights are”

“CYC is all about giving young people a voice in Carmarthenshire and I’m looking forward to celebrating what we’ve achieved over the last 10 years”
