CHRISTMAS is the season for giving, and at Amman Valley Hospital they are hoping that the spirit of the festive season will encourage some generous donations.
Carmarthenshire’s Deputy Leader and Anti-Poverty Champion, Cllr Pam Palmer, has been to Amman Valley Hospital to thank them for supporting Carmarthenshire County Council’s Christmas Toybox Appeal and to wish everyone there a happy Christmas.
Over 3,000 gifts have been collected throughout Carmarthenshire during the 2011 and 2012 Christmas Toybox Appeals, with donations going to local organisations for distribution to families in need across the country.
Anti-Poverty Champion, Cllr Pam Palmer said:” I am truly overwhelmed by the support and generosity of the local community. People have donated in their hundreds, dropping off a wide range of gifts at donation points, which are spread around the country.”
The Christmas Toybox Appeal scheme was launched to help those people who are in difficult financial situations.
People are asked to donate new toys for children and young people aged from birth to 16, for boys and girls. They must be new for health and safety reasons, and the recommended cost is from £5 upwards.
